Unplug range. Open oven door to gain access to the cook top lock-down screws, located under the front edge of the cook top. Tip the cook top up and carefully remove it by pulling forward. Set aside in a safe place. Remove old, burned-out, element by removing the single lock tab, located on one of the three mounting posts, then lift up. Leave the wiring attached. Flip the element over and remove the three mounting tabs, making note of their numbered locations. Transfer the mounting tabs to the new element using the same numbered locations. Position new element onto the mounting posts and re-attach the lock tab. Transfer the wiring from the old element to the new one, attaching each connector to its corresponding blade pin out on the connection block (for IDENTICAL replacement part). Plug range back in and turn on burner to test new element. If all checks OK, replace the cook top in the opposite manner in which it was removed. In my case the new element's connection block was configured differently than the original, even though this was the factory-correct replacement. Initial testing of the new element did not work. A quick check of continuity across the pin outs of the connection block, using a multi meter, confirmed the new, proper wiring configuration. Switched the appropriate wire and re-tested. Success!
