This is a bypass plate used in lawn tractors that incorporate a hydrostatic drive transmission. As a part of the transmission, it is an essential component of the lawn equipment. A damaged plate could contribute to less fuel efficiency or rough starting. If it is determined this part is the issue, it will need to be replaced.Since the bypass plate is an internal component, the tool will need to be disassembled to reach it. A variety of tools may be needed, including a screwdriver, pair of pliers, wrench, and screwdriver. Before replacement, make sure the lawn tractor is powered off and the key has been removed. Remove the bolts to take off the housing. Scrap sealant from the lower and upper housing and identify the bypass plate. Remove it from the lawn tractor and carefully install the new part.
