All gasoline-powered trimmers must have throttle controls that increase the amount of gasoline flowing into the carburetor. As the amount of fuel increases and the engine revolutions increase, the clutch engages the spool and the trimming line begins to turn. The throttle trigger assembly is quite durable. However, it has several appendages and is required to be under constant pressure when in use. If any of the design parts fail, the trigger unit must be replaced or the trimmer cannot be used. To replace the throttle trigger, open the housing and disconnect the throttle cable from the old trigger. It's easy to see where the new trigger will fit in the housing because the screw holes will line up perfectly with the holes in the new throttle trigger. The throttle cable will fit into one slot on the new trigger and a spring opposite the slot will hold the trigger unit at the proper angle as the housing is replaced. This new throttle trigger is an OEM replacement part, made to the same exacting specification as the original. This throttle control is designed by Craftsman and used on most of their trimmers. It is also compatible with a few other manufacturers' trimmers, including Poulan and Husqvarna.

This is the outer cover for a string trimmer housing. It clips into the bottom of the reel and secures it in place behind the central button. It’s constructed from a rubberized black plastic. This plastic is designed to be as durable as possible, while also flexing slightly when it’s under pressure. The cover serves two primary functions. It holds the reel in place and also acts as a mounting point for the central button. While it’s quite durable, it may eventually wear out due to regular use. A few scratches aren’t going to put a cover out of commission, but look for areas where the plastic has been worn through all the way. Replacing the cover is easy. Simply squeeze the old cover and pop it off the assembly. Position the new cover over the reel, then snap it into place. This cover is used primarily on Husqvarna string trimmers but is also used on some Poulan and Craftsman models. This is an OEM part sourced directly from Husqvarna, and it is sold individually.
This is a replacement knob for a trimmer. The plastic bump knob, which is connected to a spring, is used to secure the spool. A bump knob on a trimmer may get stuck or seized and will need a replacement. Before replacing the bump knob, remove the wire from the spark plug to avoid the accidental starting of the engine. Pull off the trimmer head housing and then use a flat head screwdriver to detach the old knob. Rotate it and then remove the component. Make sure the spring is in place then align the knob before rotating and snapping it in place. Take note that pulling the knob off may take extreme force when pulling. Some knobs are screw-mounted and a counterclockwise turn is necessary to unscrew it. This genuine OEM replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with specific trimmer models from Poulan and Weed Eater.
