The trigger is attached to the trimmer's throttle cable assembly. Though designed and used specifically by Weed Eater and Poulan, more than 85 different gasoline-powered devices use this trigger to regulate gas flow. While made of rugged plastic, the throttle trigger is often susceptible to more wear and tear than almost any other part of the trimmer. It sticks out away from the body of the device and thus is most susceptible. Being constantly squeezed, banged into other pieces of equipment, cement sidewalks, trees, landscaping barriers, and the like, throttle triggers can become bent, broken or irreparably disconnected from the throttle of the yard tool. Replacing the trigger begins with draining fuel from the trimmer's tank, then removing the throttle housing. Remove the throttle cable from the old trigger and install it in the new trigger.
