This switch spring is part of the safety system used in riding lawnmowers. This spring is located underneath the seat of all riding lawn mowers and lawn tractors. The spring is attached to two electrical contacts and is compressed when the rider is sitting on the seat. If the machine is in motion and the driver stands up or gets off the machine, the switch interrupts the power and stops the mower from moving. If the spring fails to work, it should be replaced in order to operate the mower safely. Over time and due to normal wear and tear, the spring may become warped and need to be replaced. Park the mower on a flat surface and remove the spark plug so that the lawnmower is not powered on. Look underneath the seat and locate the kill switch with a two-wire plug on one end and a round plunger button on top. Grip the wire plugs and pull them away from the switch spring. Install the new switch spring. Reattach the wires and reinstall the spark plugs. This switch spring is an authentic OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is a silver metal part that is designed for use in lawnmowers manufactured by MTD, Ryobi, Bolens, Yard-Man, Troy-Bilt, Husky, and Cub Cadet.
