This breather tube is a genuine OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is used on various lawn mowers and small engines to provide ventilation to the engine crankcase and prevent pressure buildup. It attaches to the cylinder assembly so that air can flow in and out and prevent damage to the engine. The breather tube on lawnmowers also has a reed that lubricates the pistons by collecting oil and sending it back to the crankcase. Over time, the breather tube may become dry and brittle, resulting in cracks. A damaged breather tube can lead to blown seals and gaskets, oil leaks, and reduced engine performance. Oil leaks are identified by bluish smoke coming from the exhaust, engine backfiring, or a decrease in overall performance. If this occurs, check the breather tube for clogs or damage. Replacing the breather tube requires a cooled-down muffler and screwdriver. Remove the muffler to reach the tube. Remove the screws holding the tube in place. Remove the tube and check for damage and clogs. Replace with a new tube if it is damaged. Reinstall the tube and screws. Reinstall the muffler. This breather tube is made of durable rubber and is sold as an individual part. The tube does not come with retaining screws.
