This scraper blade is an authentic OEM replacement part for a snowblower. Snowblowers operate using an auger that scoops up the snow and blows it to a different location. However, an auger cannot gather all of the snow because it would have to scrape against the ground. Scraping that auger against the ground would damage its blades and make them unusable. Instead, this scraper blade drags against the ground and collects any remaining snow so that the auger blades can remain protected. Scraper blades can be damaged if the snowblower goes over rocky terrain. Although it is nearly impossible for a blade to snap completely off a blower, the blade will leave the snow behind, making the blower less effective if chipped or dented. To replace a scraper blade, simply use a socket wrench to unbolt the blade from the auger housing. Be sure not to lose the bolts as they will be needed for reassembly. This part is compatible with Craftsman, MTD, Cub Cadet, Ryobi, Huskee, Yard Man, and Yard Machines snowblowers and is sourced from the original manufacturer. Removed old scraper blade. Filed away bent edges where casing was worn. Installed new scraper blade and bolts. added a backing plate to body where erosion occurred. East repair. Best part was that big snowstorm was forecast for Wednesday night. 12-18 inches expected. Parts arrived on Wednesday morning, right at time predicted. This genuine MTD shave plate, also known as a scraper bar, can be used as a replacement part for snowblowers. The shave plate is located at the bottom of the auger to scrape snow off of surfaces and filter it into the auger of the snowblower.Damage to the shave plate might include cracks, dents, and erosion to the metal material, or it can gradually wear out and no longer be effective. Evidence of a cracked shave plate can come from a visual inspection, but it can also be detected if the snowblower is doing a poor job of collecting and scraping snow off of surfaces. A cracked shave plate should be removed and replaced immediately, and a snowblower should not be used before the part is replaced.
