Description
This damper assembly controls airflow for the exhaust vent, opening with the blower and closing when off to block backdrafts. Replace a cracked, missing, or sticking damper to restore proper venting and reduce noise and drafts.
- Opens during fan operation to let cooking air exit through the duct; closes when off to prevent outside air from entering
- Helps maintain correct airflow to capture steam, smoke, and odors
- Common symptoms: poor venting, rattling/clacking noises, cold air drafts through the unit, visible broken or missing flap
- A stuck or binding damper can cause louder fan noise and weak airflow
What's included: One damper assembly Installation notes:
- Disconnect power before servicing; remove the vent cover/adapter to access the damper
- Note airflow arrow and hinge orientation; install so the flap swings freely in the exhaust direction
- Reuse existing screws and seals; replace any damaged foil tape or gaskets to prevent leaks
- After installation, run the fan to ensure the damper opens/closes smoothly without rattling
