Charles M Portland , OR April 19, 2014 Appliance: Frigidaire Microwave Hood Combo FMV157GCA Broken door handle Found the door easier to work on if it was removed from the microwave oven. That's easy - just lift and pull off. With the door flat on a table, took it apart, per a YouTube file. A broad knife putty knife (and a gentle touch) are critical. Unscrewed the "crumbs" of the failed handle. Reused the original screws (rather than the longer screws that came with the replacement handle). Attached the new handle. Put the door back together. Clicked the door back on the microwave. Read More... 31 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Robert S Portland , OR October 28, 2014 Appliance: Frigidaire Microwave FMV152KSA Replace broken handle on microwave door Replaced handle. Watched video by AppliancePartsPros and other YouTube videos describing what to do. The videos were good, but my Fridigaire microwave was just a bit different than in the videos. It took me over two hours; should only take about 0.5 hours if one can see exactly what to do. I was very happy with the delivery time: the part arrived two days after ordering by FedEx Home Delivery. Silas B Tucson , AZ December 26, 2015 Appliance: Frigidaire Microwave Hood Combo FMV157GCA The handle on my frigidaire microwave oven had broken off I was able to remove the cover at the top of the oven and then lift the door off. I put the door on a flat surface, outside face down. With a thin blade screwdriver, I was able to pry the inside bezel off, starting at the handle side. I then removed two Philip's head screws holding the panel with the metal mesh. By working from the handle side again, I was able to pry the panel up, releasing the locking tabs as I worked towards the hinge side. Once it was out, the two Philip's head screws that held the remains of the handle were exposed. I removed them. I lifted the door and placed the new handle in position. I attached it with the two screws that came with the new handle. I popped the inside panel back in, starting it at the hinge side. I replaced the two screws I had taken out earlier and then popped the bezel back into place. Jeffrey B Brainerd , MN October 06, 2014 Appliance: Model FFMB162LBA Door handle broke off on 1 year old frigidaire microwave handle was torqued too tight in assembly broke out the screw holes Took apart the door to glue it. Cheap plastic part. Epoxy held for a few months. Replacement part from AppliancePartsPros was *metal*, with real tapped screw-holes. Guess Frigidaire figured out too, their original part didn't cut it, and their manufacturing process was too hard on the cheap plastic. the new metal handle feels better, looks better. Yes, it was $80, but it's much better. Read More... 1 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
