Larry G Flintstone , GA December 17, 2019 Appliance: Kenmore Electric Range 79096623700 The outer ring of the front left element would heat but the inner would not Replacement of the element was relatively straightforward, but there are a couple of things to be aware of before you begin. First, turn off power to the stove at the breaker box. Allow the cooktop to raise by removing the two screws that secures it on the underside of the front edge. Open the oven door to do this. Removal of the old element is simple, just remove the two screws that secure the wide mounting bracket that holds the two front elements. Carefully turn the assembly over. To save yourself trouble going forward, use some masking tape to label the wires attached to the element. Label them 1a, 1b, 2a, and 2b according to the markings on the ceramic portion of the old element. The posts on the new element were in different locations in my case so labeling will help prevent mixups. Carefully pull the wires off the old element and put them on the new one. One of the mounting posts on the new element was smaller than on the old one, so I had to replace the clip. This was just a matter of clipping off the old clip, stripping off a bit of the insulation around the wire, and crimping on a new clip. Remove the old element from the mounting bracket, needle-nose pliers were helpful for this, then unscrew the clips on the back of the old element and screw onto the new one. These clips hold the element securely against the underside of the ceramic top. On the old element, the brackets were in the holes numbered 6 and 42, but I had to move them to the 3 and 39 holes on the new element. The wires aren't long enough otherwise. Finally, just turn put the new element into the mounting bracket and screw the bracket back in place. Close the lids, turn the power to the stove back on, and you should be all set. Hope this helps! John S Savoy , IL January 09, 2015 One of the burners on our range stopped working I removed the cooktop found a part number and the model of the range. Went online and found Appliance Parts Pros, I ordered the part in the morning and it was here the next day. I set the new element on top of the old and switched the connections one at a time, removed the old element put the range top back on. Plugged it in, and we were back in business (barely enough time for my wife to start complaining) It took about 20 minutes. I thought I would need to take a half day off to wait for a service tech.
