Christopher H Blue Springs , MS August 25, 2019 Appliance: Frigidaire Freezer LFUH17F2NW0 Door seal split in half and door would not seal properly I first removed all items from the freezer door compartments and put them in the main freezer section. Next, I taped heavy-duty plastic over the freezer section to reduce any thawing. and proceeded to take out the multiple Phillips screws located under the door seal and removed the door liner/old door seal. Next, I squeezed a bead of RTV sealant 6" in both directions from every corner as the instructions suggest. Then I fit the door seal around the door liner and put in two screws at the top to hold it in place, then one on each side and the bottom to ensure all holes would match up. Finally, I replaced the remaining screws. NOTE: The seal comes folded in the box and there are suggestions for making the seal nice and flat with heat from a hairdryer or hot water in a bathtub. I thought I'd straightened it out enough, but for the seal to close properly on all sides without any gaps, it needs to be absolutely flat and free of any deformities so make sure your prep work on the seal is adequate. If it's during the summer, I suggest laying the seal out the way it's meant to be in the sun for a few hours before attempting to remove any folds or bends. My project time does not include the prep work to make the seal flat. That time will vary greatly depending on the condition of your seal when it arrives. Mine had four good folds in it and took a while to get them somewhat flat, although I should have spent more time on that part.
