• Disconnect power and shut off gas if working near burner valves
• Pull the old knob straight off the stem; do not pry against the panel
• Align the new knob with the stem shape and push straight on until fully seated; verify it points to OFF
• Do not force past stops; if it won't seat, inspect the stem for damage
