Henry K Napa , CA September 21, 2022 Appliance: Kenmore Dryer 41791042000 Noisy growling sound. Marks on the clothing Kenmore Dryer Model 41791042000. Replaced the Front Felt Guide Assembly (5303937139) Lower Front Felt Seal (5303283286) Rear Drum Bearing Kit (5303281153) and Dryer Drum Belt. (134503600) Having performed this same maintenance 5 years ago I was familiar with the process which is fairly straightforward. However, the video for the Front Felt Guide replacement seems to no longer be on the website. Also, the video for the Lower Front Felt Seal is wrong, showing the replacement of some felt seal at the rear of the drum of another dryer model. But don't worry, the video showing replacement of the rear drum bearing kit shows how to disassemble the dryer, and the written directions included with the Front Felt Guide Assembly hold true for the Lower Front Felt Seal as well. Once you have removed the front panel (see Drum Bearing Kit video) pull off the top and bottom felt seals from the panel. Use acetone to clean off all the old adhesive and felt remnants. You need a clean, smooth surface. Apply the provided High Temperature Adhesive to the back of the Front Felt Guide assembly. The overhanging plastic guides face the front of the dryer, not the drum. Center the felt guide assembly, firmly pressing it in place. I used binder clips to secure the felt while the adhesive set. Replacing the lower felt is the same process. If you look closely at the Lower Front Felt seal you will notice that one edge is slightly beveled. This beveled edge should be the outside edge facing the drum. You do not need to purchase additional High-Temperature Adhesive as the tube provided with the Front Felt Guide Assembly is more than adequate to secure both upper and lower felts. Replacing the Rear Drum Bearing Kit and Dryer Drum Belt is exactly like the video. Be patient, take your time and you'll have a quiet dryer that doesn't mark your clothes! Martin M Bradenton , FL March 16, 2014 Brown streaks on the cloths. I knew the felt lining was the problem, because I had a similar problem once before with another dryer. I ordered the lower felt by mistake, and found out it was the top felt with the pads that I needed! I was thrilled that the very next day my part came, and was able to get it fixed the same day! Painted rubbing surface on inside of drum with refrigerator enamel. Took out drum and lubed rear bearing. Replaced 2 of the 3 thermostats, and the belt just on principle. Spent a lot of time with shop-vac removing lint from drier and exhaust ducts. Runs great and is no longer cooking or staining clothes. Steve H Brandon , FL October 23, 2015 The front drum seals were worn causing the dryer to literaly eat clothes lol I ordered the front top seal, the front lower seal and rear drum bearing (figured that should be replaced along with the seals). I watched the very helpful videos for the parts I ordered and replaced the parts according to the videos. It was a real simple process. Very easy. The only thing that I added to the process was to clamp the ends of the felt seal until the cement dried (they had a tendency to come up) , only took a few minutes. William L New Albany , OH March 28, 2015 Appliance: Model FDE437GHSO Clothes getting caught and stained between drum and upper glide After determining the most probable culprit was the upper glide, I decided to order that as well as the lower seal, drum bearing kit and a new belt and tensioner. I wasn't sure of the condition of the last two but figured as long as I was tearing into the thing, go ahead and replace those as well. Actually watched a few videos of the process and read some of the comments others had made so when I got to the actual repair there were no surprises. Also took the opportunity to vacuum all the lint build-up.
