Darren G Burke , VA May 31, 2014 Appliance: Frigidaire Electric Range PLES389ECG I dropped a ceramic coffee mug (full of coffee) onto the glass/ceramic cooktop of my frigidaire range my $2 mug was fine the almost $300 cooktop not so much I found a posting online for someone who had replaced a burner for the range same model, which required almost the same disassembly procedure as replacing the cooktop assembly itself. His step-by-step instructions were extremely helpful, however there were a few 'surprises' along the way. I did the entire job in about 2 hours by myself, but having a second pair of hands would have made the job easier, as lining up the screw holes for the cooktop assembly with the burner box, while maintaining the proper location for all of the connected wires was tricky. I also replaced a burned-out burner element during this job, which had been out for almost 4 years but I never got around to replacing it before now. After reassembly, everything worked as it should and I'm sure I saved lots of $$$ on what a house call from a tech would have cost. Make sure you organize the parts during disassembly so that reassembly is straight forward. David C Toledo , OH July 11, 2016 Broken glass on our glass top slide in stove Ordered a new glass top to replace the broken glass, part was $289. Had to completely disassemble the top of the stove starting with the front control panel. Took several pictures as I disconnected wiring and components. Also had to pull the stove out of the island and disconnect the hard wired power connections. After removing about 25 screws around the top of the stove the glass lifted off with the heating elements attached. I placed the new glass top face down next to the broken one and transferred all the heating elements. Then reassembled the stove top in reverse order of the above steps. Turned the breaker back on and everything works like new! Read More... 11 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
