John H Ozark , MO October 14, 2014 Appliance: Frigidaire Dishwasher FPHD2491KF0 Leaking from the bottom The gasket is fairly straightforward: it's just a press-fit right in to the channel. What you need to know is that you need to stretch the gasket material lengthwise prior to installation; if you don't it will be too short. The problem is that the bottom seal is not included with this gasket kit. The bottom seal begins to loosen at the corners and then begins to allow water past the door. The only way the bottom seal is sold is as part of the inner door assembly, which is costly. I removed the inner door, removed the bottom seal, (which was almost falling out), and then cleaned it and the channel it sits in thoroughly. Next I used a very small pry bar to open the channel slightly to re-seat the seal lip. I used RTV in the channel and then re-clamped the metal lip at intervals with vise-grips. I used a series of small clamps to squeeze the seal while the RTV set up. I applied a second layer of RTV to the edge of the seal where it enters the metal channel to deflect any water that might work it's way in. The only downside to this repair is some cosmetic distortion at the bottom of the inside of the door-you can see the "bite marks" from the vise grips but this is only on the inside of the door at the very bottom. It is unreasonable to be forced to buy the entire inner door assembly.
