Dishwasher Gasket & Seal

The dishwasher is 4 years old, so I figured since it was leaking from the bottom, replacing the Tub Gasket PN: AP5690109, Splash Shield Kit PN: AP4338941 , and the bottom Door Seal/Gasket PN: AP5809675 was a good idea; the machine probably has around 1200 cycles in 4 years. There's no telling how much the door had opened and closed!? The bottom Door Seal/Gasket was badly worn, and the entire job took me around 30 minutes which included the detailed cleaning of the mating flanges. Take your... Read more

I went to your web sight. I entered the GE dishwasher model # and found the gasket was available. While looking up the needed gasket I happened to see an applicable how-to replace the gasket video and watched it. It was easy to follow and VERY helpful. A quick google search lead me to the problem - the plastic door gasket had become loose and broken. Received the part very quickly and installed it that night after a little trial and error. What the videos don't tell you is that to properly 'seat' the gasket you need to angle it UP when you push it into the little gap. My wife is attached to her old, simple, no bells and whistles dishwasher. Not the first time my 10 year old dishwasher developed a leak. I have learned that the tub gasket gets dirty and the gasket spring gets weak. Cleaning and if needed replacing that solves the problem. In cleaning the tub gasket this time I notice the bottom door seal had separated from the door. It was originally riveted on. I bought the door and bottom seal and was already to go. Appliance Pro got the parts to me in 2 days. I read an article that said if the spray arm holes are blocked that this could cause a wave in the dishwasher that could cause the water to fly up to the inlet used for drying and the water could run down between the front and inside door appearing to be a leak. I checked and my spray arms were indeed blocked. I pulled them out, cleaned them up, reinstalled, and low and behold that was appeared... Read more

This time I replaced the front and rear bearings and thrust bearing and all the gears. The hardest part is thoroughly cleaning out all the old grease. After re-greasing and assembly mixer ran like new. I wish a more robust worm gear was available. A snap ring plier is a must for this job. Read more
