Carolina L Miami , FL September 08, 2015 Frigidaire dryer door would not stay closed My dryer door would not stay shut because the door strike was stuck in the door catch. I was afraid that when I pulled the strike out, it would damage the catch, so I ordered the door strike and door catch. I got the damaged door strike out with needle nosed pliers in about 15 seconds. The door catch was in perfect condition so I didn't need to use the one I ordered. So then I proceeded to install the new door strike. That took me about 15 minutes because I did not have the manual strength to compress the strike to pop into the hole. I couldn't do it even with needle nosed pliers because I just could not position the pliers on the strike. Finally, I got the strike positioned somewhat in the hole, held it there, and used a mallet to gently bang it into place. Door now stays closed. Greg D Manhattan , MT September 19, 2014 Appliance: Frigidaire Frigidaire/Laundry Center FEZ831AS2 Loud screeching metal on metal noise from dryer not always constant but pretty much most of the time Followed the advice from appliancepartspros.com and ordered the upper and lower felt seals and the plastic drum glide. I thought i was going to be several hundred dollars deep for the repair but they were right! The upper felt seal had been worn down....a few minutes time to apply the glue and set and like magic the dryer was fixed! i also replaced the rear bearing kit anyways since I already had the dryer apart and it wasnt that expensive. Great sound advice from this team and very helpful videos!!!! Read More... 24 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
