How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP2137890 / 5303207102 Door Strike

Followed the advice from appliancepartspros.com and ordered the upper and lower felt seals and the plastic drum glide. I thought i was going to be several hundred dollars deep for the repair but they were right! The upper felt seal had been worn down....a few minutes time to apply the glue and set and like magic the dryer was fixed! i also replaced the rear bearing kit anyways since I already had the dryer apart and it wasnt that expensive. Great sound advice from this team and very helpful videos!!!! 

Found replacement at Appliance Parts Pro.com- removed and replaced latch 

I removed the top of the drier by removing 2 screws. Then I used a long flat screwdriver and pushed on the side of the door latch till one side came out a little. Pried it out from the unit and pushed the new one in. Replaced the top and replaced the door strike. 

I googled the part right away and found this website that looked the same as the piece that split in two pieces. I was expecting to pay more than what i did, which really made me happy. Only took a few days to get it too. 

I found the model number of my dryer, entered it into your search bar, ordered the part on a Friday - received it on Saturday. I gave the part to my husband and less than 5 minutes later he said it was fixed. THAT is the easiest way that I know of to repair things. 

Replaced both the strike and catch. 

I'd been having issues with the door catch and strike on my Frigidaire dryer for years. I had the repairmain out twice to look at it. His advice was to not gently lift the door so the strike and the catch matched (which ended up loosing the door hinges) but rather to slam it closed. I'm sure you can imagine how that worked out. I'd been using magnets to keep the door closed, or a broom until I bought the replacement parts. I didn't really need the strike, but I wasn't sure why the catch wasn't working in the first place. The catch was completely broken. In fact, it fell inside the dryer. Both parts took less than 10 minutes to replace. I used a flathead screwdriver to insert both in their respective slots. No need to take apart anything. I still think my dryer is defective, but the latch and catch are working as they should! 

Just put in one side a tapped it lightly with a hammer. It popped right in 

Dryer was easy. Washer door gasket was hard. 

It was a simple fix that took about three minutes. All That was needed was to insert the part into a slot and there it was. Not bad for a female.
