Description

This small door-activated microswitch signals the control that the microwave door is fully closed so cooking can start, and it opens the circuit when the door is opened. Replacing a worn switch restores reliable, safe start/stop operation. What it does:

• Detects door position and permits operation only when the door is closed
• Interrupts power when the door opens during a cycle
• Helps resolve won't-start unless pressing on the door, starts then immediately stops, or intermittent operation when opening/closing the door
• In some cases, prevent fuse or breaker trips caused by a failing interlock switch

Install notes:

• Disconnect power; if servicing a microwave, the high-voltage capacitor can retain a dangerous charge—discharge it safely before working
• Access the interlock switch bracket near the door latch; note wire positions and switch orientation
• Move one wire at a time to the new switch and ensure the actuator aligns with the door latch
• Inspect the latch and mounting bracket; replace if worn or damaged
