Joseph V Bargersville , IN January 16, 2026 Appliance: Frigidaire Refrigerator PHS69EHSS2 Water dispensor would only work when you depressed the paddle then brought back to find the "sweet spot" I had the original sensors in my Frigidaire, which were now about 18 years old. The water dispenser would work, but I would have to push in the lever and then draw it back until it found that "sweet spot." I finally got annoyed enough with the problem that I looked online. I almost purchased the dispenser actuator (the paddle), and glad I didn't because it was not the problem. Unless your lights are out, or it broke, the culprit will be these little dispenser switches which get pressed every time you get ice or water. I purchased two AP6887337 dispenser switches, and figured I would swap out both while I had it apart. I watched a few of the videos and read some of the comments before the install, and it made things WAY easier. I would echo another poster's comments about the water tube being the most difficult portion of the process. I pushed mine back up through the frame with a pen when removing. We have hard water where I live, so I also used that opportunity to scrape off the scale which had accumulated in the opening where the tube comes through and other impacted areas. Screws holding some of these internal components together are tiny, so make sure you have a two phillips screwdrivers to accommodate large and small screws. The tube did not want to go back into the hole upon reassembly the first time, even when using some needle nose pliers to try and get it back into the hole. I fixed that problem by putting a few drops of cooking oil on the water line and inside the hole, and it went right in. I can't say enough good things about the APP folks. I have purchased parts for my refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer from them, and they are my go-to. The videos they make are second to none, especially when talking about how to remove panels so as to not break the plastic tabs underneath. Hours of time saved, and no extra parts get broken. Appliances are crazy expensive, and given this refrigerator was built better than the stuff on the market now, I want to do what I can to keep it going. A $22 fix beats buying a new $1500 refrigerator. Thanks APP! Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
Richard B Shoreline , WA October 11, 2016 Ice maker door not sealing causing frost buildup and leaking I wasn't sure if it was the door being warped, the spring return being worn, or the rotary damper failing, so I ordered all to update the door mechanism. I also ordered a new micro switch since one of the switches had started to require more and more pressure to actuate. Figured I'd fix it at the same time. Repair was very straightforward and the videos available on this and other repair sites were very helpful. I found a video that showed replacing the door mechanism on a nearly identical model to my fridge, and it helped with all aspects of the repair. Only minor issue I had on my model was that the water supply line was VERY short and the hole was very tight. I solved this by extending the line with a slightly smaller diameter tubing. I was able to slide the smaller tubing into the old one, and then feed that through the opening. Will make any future repairs much easier. And, the results are fantastic - since I replaced it all, I don't know what part was failing, but now I get that satisfactory 'thump' sealing noise on the ice door, and visual inspection shows no air leakage. Matthew R Lafayette , CO May 17, 2014 Water dispenser (fridgidaire) would continue to pour water after a cup was removed The lever on the dispenser would retract, but the water would continue to come out the hose. I believe the issue was that the switch was sticking so that when you remove the cup, it wasn't switching off. I bought a new switch for the water side and replaced it, now all seems well. It was relatively easy to replace. - Remove the bottom drip tray to expose 3 screws for face plate - Remove 3 screws and remove face plate - Remove 3 screws to pull dispenser assembly forward and out of the way - disconnect ribbon wire between main unit and the controls for cube/crush, fast ice, etc. - You'll need to pull the water hose out of the dispenser unit at this point so that you can get to the switch. This is a bit of a pain, but if you just use a little force by pulling up on the hose and down on the assembly, the hose will break free. It's just sitting in the assembly via a tight fitting opening. - disconnect main wire harness on left - pull out control assembly. Two screws hold in the two switches. The outer switch controls the water dispenser. Unscrew the switches, Pull free the two wires, and plug in the new switch. - Reverse to reassemble. In order to make it easier to reattach the water line to the housing, pull the bottom plastic fascia to expose the water line and push it up toward the housing to get more slack. Then you can force the water line into the housing. Read More... 20 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
