Michael S Appleton , WI June 23, 2020 Appliance: Frigidaire Refrigerator FRS23KF7AQ2 Ice maker stopped making ice On your chat box with Kelsey, I decided it was probably the valve and so ordered a water valve. It came next day! Before trying to install it, I wanted to confirm whether it was the valve or the icemaker, so I chatted again with Kelsey who gave me a useful test (manually pour water into the icemaker) that confirmed the icemaker was functional. So I thought it surely is the valve, so I removed the old valve according to the very helpful video on your website. When I opened the box with the new valve there was a very detailed instruction sheet on how to test the old valve to be sure it was defective before installing the new valve. I tested the old valve using that method and the old valve was fully functional! Now I was confused. The valve worked. The icemaker made ice. Perhaps the icemaker electronics was not sending power to the valve even if it could make ice? Then on a whim, I blew into the water tube from the valve to the icemaker. It was clogged! I pulled out the section going through the reefer wall and found it clogged with ice! Why that tube froze up, I can't imagine. I cleared the tube and reassembled everything. The refrigerator made a whole bin of ice last night! The "Diagnostic Procedure for Triple and Quadruple Water Valve" that came with the part was the key that saved me from a $110 service call. My only cost is return postage. My one suggestion is to include that diagnostic procedure on your website! In any case, I will likely come to Appliance Parts Pros when I need help on an appliance. Matt M Pickett , WI February 05, 2021 Appliance: Model FR2686LFO 1: loud noise on freezer side. 2: no water dispensing 1. After hearing a loud noise on the freezer side of unit about halfway up, I started investigating what it could be? My conclusion was evaporator motor or evaporator fan blade. One of the signs of this issue was a distinct change in sound when I opened the freezer door. I ordered a new motor and blade, not knowing exactly what it was. 2. I couldn't get water to dispense, so I changed the filter and that wasn't the problem. I ordered a water valve and crossed my fingers. These parts arrived quickly and were on standby for a later time that I could tear into this project. After a few days went by I came home to see a alarm / code on the refrigerator display (SY EF) and both freezer and fridge were shut down. I looked up the code and it was a evaporator fail code. Needless to say I had to drop everything and do this repair asap with the parts I already had on hand. I had previously watched the instructional videos, so I unloaded all the items from both sides and began the repair. After getting the panels off the back of the freezer in noticed a lot of ice buildup near the evaporator motor and blade. I removed both existing parts and replaced per the instructional video. My advise would be to thaw and remove any ice buildup before putting the panels back on. I reassembled with the new parts I had ordered. I did have to fight a little with the clip on the new motor. Make sure you hear it snap together before moving on and putting the interior panels back on. As long as I had the unit pulled out I decided to change the water valve too. I installed this per the video and checked for leaks. After all this work was done, powering up, and repositioning the unit, I was dispensing water and watching the temperature on the freezer and fridge come down to optimal levels. It's fixed!
