Melissa K Maple Lake , MN September 04, 2021 Removed old timer knob by pulling straight off, found problem, stem was broken, couldn't turn knob Threw away existing black insert from old knob stem. I installed new knob which came with the little black metal insert attached. Just pushed knob on with the flat side of stem/insert lined up with the peg.
