This shaft seal fits around the main drive shaft where it passes through the outer tub of the washing machine. It prevents water from leaking out of the tub and into the motor or bearing area. Replace this seal if you notice water dripping from beneath the tub, hear grinding noises during the spin cycle, or find water pooling under the machine.
