Gordon P Wading River , NY October 10, 2014 Appliance: General Electric Electric Dryer DRSR483EG7WW Whirlpool dryer door switch bad I had a humming sound when I pressed the start button on my whirlpool dryer. Went on line and determined that it could be due to a bad door switch . I called appliance parts pro on a Sunday expecting to get a recording ,instead a helpful rep took the order and remarkably got the door switch on Tuesday . Under the part on their website was a fantastic video taking you step by step to remove door top of dryer and switch. In all it took me less than 15 minutes. On a scale of 1-10 I would put it at 1 for extremely easy. The best part is I saved at least $150 dollars for house call and part. Thank you appliance part pros … a returning thankful customer .... Michael A Lewiston , ME August 26, 2017 Appliance: Whirlpool LE7760XWN0 Could not remove old power cord from back of dryer (screw heads stripped due to soft metal) I had to remove my dryer so I could install a new floor. The dryer would not fit through the doorway with the power cord attached. Since the power cord was fastened to the back using 3 phillip headed screws, I gently backed them out with a phillip headed screwdriver. However, two of the 3 screws gave me extreme trouble. The head of the screws were made of such a weak metal, that the screw head began stripping. I have a phillip screw kit with different sized heads, so I picked a head that was slightly larger to back out the screw. No luck. So, I borrowed my dad’s screw extractor kit and used the two bits according to the instructions and that too failed. I had no choice but to cut the power cord and buy a new block (since the screws holding the old power cord terminals could not be removed). I bought the new block, shown here, and replaced the old one in a snap. The how-to video made it really easy for me to know how to strip/join the wires from new to old. I bought a new power cord as well. Now I’m back up and running :) Read More... 13 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
