Magnetron assembly that produces the microwave energy used to heat food. Replacing a failed magnetron restores heating performance so the oven can warm and cook food properly. What it does

• Generates the microwave energy that heats food; a failed magnetron typically causes little or no heating.
• Can produce loud humming or buzzing if failing.
• May cause sparking/arcing inside the cavity or a burning/odd smell when faulty.
• A bad magnetron can lead to blown fuses or tripped safety devices.
