James W Rochester , NY March 14, 2014 Appliance: General Electric Electric Range JBP78WY3 Lower baking element was broken My oven element "melted away" on a Saturday evening. I couldn't find any parts locally on Sunday so that left me until Monday with no oven. On Monday, I had the option of buying one locally for $70+ dollars or go online. I've dealt with AppliancePartsPros before and they've always delivered so I took the chance and put an order in. I had the part Tuesday afternoon without driving anywhere and for only $54... in less than 30 hours after I ordered it! WOW! It took almost no time to install it. It took me longer to find a screwdriver and flashlight than it did to install. Thanks AppliancePartsPros, you will always be my first call. Marwan H Melville , NY June 20, 2014 Appliance: General Electric Electric Range JBP48WA4 The heating element was broken and the power connection to it was (melted) from probably excessive current Followed the video provided by you. In my case though, I had to open the back cover as well to replace the wire connector - there was a warning not to let these wires fall off. If they do, it is not an issue. One screw and a small cover in the back make things accessible. The real story here is AppliancePartsPro - my experience with you is always positive. The order process, the timely delivery of parts, and the resources you provide (such as videos) to enable someone like me actually do the work on my own. Great organization. Andrew D Coral Springs , FL January 02, 2016 Bake element stopped working The real problem was not a failed element (though it had been replaced twice previously) but a dirty and corroded spade connector. Since the electrical contact was not clean, it had obviously been arcing and the metal contact eventually burned and part of the now-blackened connector literally broke off. When replacing an element, the lesson here is to check that the spade terminals (that connect to it) are also clean, shiny and tight-fitting - and if not, replace them - but be sure to buy the correctly-rated spade terminals from an appliance store and use a proper crimping tool to connect them (the regular, big hardware stores seem to sell neither oven-rated spade terminals nor decent crimping tools).
