Pete R Dagsboro , DE October 23, 2022 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator CSHS5UGXCSS Intermittent malfunction of front water/cube dispenser on our 13yr old ge cafe refrigerator after several months of inconsistent dispenser performance i searched videos of ge refrigerator problems After searching refrigerator videos of related problems I found AppliancePartsPros.com and inquired about replacing the Dispenser Assembly board on the front door. During the several-month malfunction period, the freezer and refrigerator were working before they finally stopped. That lead to a discussion with an APP customer rep who asked me to describe the problem and then reviewed their log of prior customer reviews & Fixit comments with me. We uncovered a description of identical issues in several comments which allowed me to change my diagnosis and check the Main Control Assembly circuit board at the rear base of the refrigerator which was the real problem. I ordered the rear board, not the dispenser board, and replaced it in about 25 minutes, a simple operation. ONE TELLTALE SIGN that the rear circuit board was bad was seeing 2 small 470 of SWOLLEN CAPACITORS with rounded tops something I'd viewed in an online video of someone with a similar problem. So, if you notice any swollen capacitors on either circuit board it's likely the, or part of the, problem. In this case, they were the same 2 that were swollen on my rear board. A very manageable self-diagnosis with some APP guidance and problem-solving. After 4 days dispenser, refrigerator and freezer all were working well. Paid $11 for expedited delivery and got part in 2 days. Very happy with the results so far. Will certainly use APP for my appliance malfunction issues going forward. Suggestion, vacuum the dust from the rear before completing the replacement. Always a good maintenance practice while you're servicing. A satisfying self-fix with minimal downtime without a critical daily-use appliance like a refrigerator. Thanks. Helen P Edgewater , FL February 03, 2017 Appliance: Model GE SIDE BY SIDE Ice & water would nt dispense then both freezer & refrigerator defrosted I had ordered the main board when the water & ice dispenser quit working, when the refrigerator & freezer quit working I thought it was totally dead, I went shopping for a new refrigerator and almost bought one but decided to sleep on it, The next day I received the main board and decided to try to fix it, wasn't sure it would work, but I had watched the video and it looked pretty easy, so I took a chance and it totally fixed it, I tried the water when I got the new part installed and was thrilled to see it dispense water, I had to wait for the ice to freeze and the freezer & refrigerator to get cold, but it's working perfect and saved me lots of money. I fixed it myself and I am a 60+ FEMALE. Thanks to the video how to replace the part. I highly recommend trying to fix you refrigerator if it totally dies. The ice maker was working but it wouldn't dispense. A few days later the refrigerator and freezer stopped getting cold. You could hear the compressor try to kick on but it sounded like the relay wasn't working. I replaced the motherboard and everything works perfectly again.
