How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP4363093 / WR55X10775 Board Asm Main Control

I had ordered the main board when the water & ice dispenser quit working, when the refrigerator & freezer quit working I thought it was totally dead, I went shopping for a new refrigerator and almost bought one but decided to sleep on it, The next day I received the main board and decided to try to fix it, wasn't sure it would work, but I had watched the video and it looked pretty easy, so I took a chance and it totally fixed it, I tried the water when I got the new part installed and was thrilled to see it dispense water, I had to wait for the ice to freeze and the freezer & refrigerator to get cold, but it's working perfect and saved me lots of money. I fixed it myself and I am a 60+ FEMALE. Thanks to the video how to replace the part. I highly recommend trying to fix you refrigerator if it totally dies. 

Paid a technician $80 to guess repair of $700-900. A mistake. Went to Appliance Parts Pros site, where people described exact symptoms, and replacement of control board and compressor relay. Purchased control board, compressor relay and overload. Parts to me in 1.5 days. Easy plug and play 30 minute repair job. Refrigerator now works perfect for half of repair tech estimate. 

At first the water and ice dispenser stopped working. The ice maker was working but it wouldn't dispense. A few days later the refrigerator and freezer stopped getting cold. You could hear the compressor try to kick on but it sounded like the relay wasn't working. I replaced the motherboard and everything works perfectly again. 

Replaced the control board. SIX SHEET METAL SCREWS AND PLUGGING IN THE CONNECTORS. 

Order new mother board and replaced old one. Really easy. 

The main control board showed bulged/failed capacitors. A new board fixed the problem. 

The control panel looked ok but after pressing for water or most anything else, the lights would go off on the panel. No water or ice would be dispensed. I did not find this exact same description on this site but did find similar type descriptions that seemed related. With that, I took the risk and ordered this part (WR55X10775). Note that other description indicate to look at the current board and note if any damaged components were visible. On my board, all looked normal. In final, I replaced this board with the one I ordered resulting in the control panel working like it should. The most difficult part of the replacement was the pulling of the connectors off the existing board. I did not want to break anything.

I started by replacing a couple of parts recommended by others as it was making clicking noise. Ultimately, it was the Main Control Board that needed to be replaced. First the back panel on the lower right was removed using a 1/4" nut driver. A photo was taken of the board and arrangement of the wires. The wire attachments were removed. Each of the four fasteners was gently squeezed to release the board. The new board was gently pushed into place. The photo was used as a guide to reattach the wires. The back panel was reattached. 

The main control board had two fried capacitors and two fried resistors. This was the third replacement of the main board in 10 years. The failed resistors both potentially relate to the two fans (compressor fan and evaporator fan). A failure of all three components was indicated. I replaced the board and the two fans to ensure that the fans did not cause the new board to fry upon power-up. The refrigerator is working again. It took all of 20 minutes to diagnose and replace the main control board.
