Helene K Oregon City , OR March 24, 2022 Appliance: General Electric Gas Range PGS968BEM1BB The gas burners were flaring and leaving sooty deposits on pans I examined the inner burner heads and determined that two of the most frequently used burners were warped and were not making good contact with the burner base. It's a GE Profile series stove about 10 -12 years old. I checked the GE Parts website, and they wanted almost $100 for the large burner head but didn't even have the small one at all, saying it was no longer available. By Googling the parts numbers, I found Appliance Part Pros, and they had both burner heads available. They were still a bit expensive for such a small, portable piece, but the price was significantly less than ordering from GE. I took a chance on ordering them as I was not confident it would fix the problem. As it turned out, it did greatly help, though there is still a slight flare from the burners. I suspect that the burner base may also be a bit warped, and those are significantly more expensive to replace. With the improvement that replacing the burner heads achieved, I'm not sure I want to invest much more into an older stove that may need replacing in the next few years; but at least they are not leaving soot all over the base of my pots.
