David F Glen Burnie , MD November 28, 2017 Appliance: Hot Point Microwave RVM1535DM2WW Turntable won't spin coupler broken/loose Found coupler completely loose, shaft attachment point disintegrated; melted? On motor, plastic-like material stuck on shaft. Easily found matching microwave model on AppliancePartsPros.com and matching parts. Oddly, like other appliance parts sellers, the motor was listed for about $60, but a second equivalent one for about $23. Photo matched original. Ordered the cheaper motor + coupler, perfect matches to original. Motor is easily accessible by easily removing the microwave bottom cover with about 5 Phillips screws. Bottom cover is held in place/hinged at back, no need to remove. Also no need to remove the lamp that is within the bottom cover. I unplugged the 2-pin motor connector and marked the top side, although it probably doesn't matter since it's an AC motor. Motor is held in place with 1 Phillips screw toward the back and slides into a slot at the front. Easily replaced motor + coupler, perfect fix. Coupler is keyed and just slides onto motor shaft. Had a little difficulty getting the motor mounting screw in since the microware is an under-cabinet model and did not need to remove it. Used cell phone camera and flashlight to help see the screw hole. Read More... 4 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Kathi H Bridgewater Township , NJ August 30, 2019 The microwave as working but the turntable wasn't turning The coupler was wobbling around in the hole that it clips into. After reading reviews I confirmed that I was able to twist the warped part to remove it. The stem it was supposed to clip onto was stripped down to a nub. Thanks to the review from Burnie, MD, I was able to order the correct parts and fix it myself. The step by step instructions in his review were spot on and accurate. He gave me the confidence to fix this myself.
