Robin D Tuscaloosa , AL September 12, 2020 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator GFE28GSKJSS GE model gfe28gskjss refrigerator pin point led lights all dim (5 total) To fix: it is one of two issues. #1) Main circuit board is going bad (should put out 12 volts-can check with voltmeter for 12VDC output) #2) One or more led light circuit board is bad. Easiest to check for #2 issue first. Open doors and pop out (but do not disconnect ) all 5 led lights (1 on each side and 3 across top). Using voltmeter check for DC voltage to each light individually. Each led light should pull 2VDC. If a led pulls 5VDC - 20VDC, then that is your bad light. Unplug 2 wire pin connector from board light/cover and replace by plugging in new led light board/cover. All 5 lights should then go back to full brightness. If all 5 led lights test individually at 2VDC, then your issue is #1(failing main circuit board). The main control board can be tested for voltage output at connection J14 from pin 7 white wire (with red probe of a meter) to pin 6 tan wire (with the black probe of a meter). If there is 12VDC being measured continuously with the doors OPEN, the board is good (putting out 12VDC), thus the failure is in one of the leds-#2. As of this writing each of the LED light board/cover cost is $125.00. Total rip off by GE (GE cost is more). Being that there are 5 leds in refrigerator and you don't want to buy 5 and replace all at that cost......do the volt test and find the bad. Popping a led out and unplugging and re-plugging in a new led board/cover takes about 10-15 seconds. Easily done!
