Gary S Mooresville , NC September 28, 2026 Appliance: Model GE MODEL NO. GDF610PMJ2ES Ge dishwasher would not start and would double beep three times; soap dish would not always open during cycle I first did quite a bit of interaction with the AI chat and doing Google searches, as well as entering the diagnostic mode for the dishwasher. (NOTE: Retrieve the technical sheet stored underneath your dishwasher behind the front toe kick panel to learn all about diagnostics!) From this research, I determined three possible issues: (1) the door latch assembly might be malfunctioning, (2) the soap dish actuator might be malfunctioning, and/or (3) the main control board was faulty. The door latch and soap dish assemblies are connected to this review; the main control board was on a second order. A diagnostic check did not return any error codes (just a number, which indicates the control board software version). But, the issues were intermittent so I couldn't trust that there weren't any issues. So, I decided to go whole-hog and replace all three parts. Total cost with shipping was about $ -- still a lot less than a new dishwasher! All three replacements were fairly straight-forward; the soap dish was the most involved because the door had to be removed and disassembled to access the soap dish. Door removal with the spring hinges is a bit tricky. The AppliancePartsPros installation videos were all very helpful and spot-on correct and helped to show the necessary tricks. There is no such thing as a 15-minute repair -- count on any repair taking 1 hour per part. This repair took me just over 3 hours -- but I spent an extra hour replacing my hard-wired power to the dishwasher with an outlet located in the wall behind the dishwasher, and replacing my old solid copper water supply line with a longer flexible stainless steel water line. Both of these prevented me from being able to pull the dishwasher more than 3" out from under the counter -- so, now I can pull the dishwasher all the way out from under the counter easily if I need to without disconnecting it, and I can unplug the dishwasher to kill the power without having to shut off the circuit breaker. This will make it much easier to repair or replace the dishwasher in the future. Well worth the extra hour!! I have used AppliancePartsPros for over 10 years now because of the ease to find parts for all my appliances, their quick delivery, and (especially) their installation videos and technical support. Dishwashers are generally easy to repair and you can significantly extend their lifespans if you take on the repairs yourself. Read More...
