Have repaired dryer before for same problem years ago, knew what to do, on line diagrams helped to move memory. Cleaned all accumulated lint out of machine.Belt was changed only out of age.Looked good but thought to be on safe side. John C Gray , ME July 16, 2019 Appliance: General Electric Washer Dryer Combo WSM2780DBWWW Been squeaking for years, drum finally stopped turning rear bushing worn out Replaced rear bushing and used a synthetic grease rated at 600F. New upper felt to better center the drum and new belt. There is a small ball bearing and tin plate that will fall out of the rear of the dryer onto the floor when you remove the two bushing screws. Helps to have someone back there to catch them, and also when you put it back together. Installation meant unstacking the dryer, removing 8 screws, removing the top and front panels, positioning the new belt, then reversing the steps. Total time was one hour. Paul B Montgomery , AL January 06, 2019 Broken belt on a GE dryer I thought at first the belt was to long until I sized it up with the broken one and found it was the same size. I was wrapping the belt around the tensioner wrong. Once I figured out how to wrap it around the tensioner correctly i put the dryer back together and it runs good as new. This is the first time I've ever fixed an appliance. I feel like I saved a lot of money fixing it rather than going out and buying a new dryer.
