Jan R Estero , FL February 06, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Microwave JNM1851SM4SS Front grill on ge mircowave fell off Asked a question on-line; received an answer in less than 15 minutes. Ordered replacement grill [w/o stainless steel front]. Price was the lowest I found. Received part in 2 days. Removed stainless steel front from old grill and installed on new part [be CAREFUL; SS metal front has very sharp edges!] Total time for replacement from taking old SS front off to final installation would have been only 20-25 minutes except two plastic lower tabs on new part were not molded correctly and would not slide all the way to the right in the slots on microwave front; had to carefully remove some of the plastic on the tabs before the new grill would slide all the way to the right. I just had to align the tabs with the slots ,slide the vent to the right to align holes for screws and put the two screws in on top of the vent. Took between 5 to 10 minutes. Benjamin R West Chicago , IL August 30, 2015 I have a ge over the range built in microwave grill vent bottom tabs and the screw tabs broke when i forcibly took it off when i was cleaning it No other fix but to replace the whole grill. I bought the part which comes in black and I have to transfer the stainless skin from my old part to the new part. The lower tabs are tight so you have to make it bigger. I used a sand paper to make the tab space bigger. Part is made of plastic so be extra careful when putting it back. Do not force it. Read More...
