Ge WE01X20419 Dryer Door Handle OEM Part

My husband found the exact handle we needed to replace the one on our dryer at AppliancePartsPros.com and we ordered it. When it came, we replaced it. I know this sounds like a simple story, but honestly, it's much more. For weeks, this broken dryer handle was driving me crazy. Finally, my husband realized that AppliancePartsPros would likely have the part--and they did. We ordered the part on a weekend and got it on Monday. I couldn't believe it. We think this place is awesome. In the past, we needed parts to fix our dryer. We got the parts quickly and my husband installed them. We saved hundreds of dollars not having to buy a new dryer.

At first I used white duck tape to tape it up. That worked well and so the handle with the tape stayed for sever months (maybe a couple of years - but it was a long time). Then we decided to sell our home and during the inspection, the inspector said the handle had to be fixed. Huh? How? The dryer is 17 years old! So, of course, I got out my Owner's Manual (yes, I still had it). Went to the Internet, searched for GE Dryer Parts and AppliancdPartsPros.com turned up. I put in my part number and much to my amazement, the replacement handle was still available. And at a very reasonable price. The short video was very helpful in showing me how to put the handle back on. Unbelievable! I ordered a new Handle

So it took about 3 hours to disassemble and replace the motor, mostly because I was being very, very careful and meticulous. Unfortunately it wouldn't start, even though I swear I did everything right. The next 6 hours were spent troubleshooting and continuity testing every circuit and wire, all of which worked. Long story short, DON'T FORGET TO TWIST THE TIMER KNOB ON WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE MOTOR. Doh!

Once I figured out what was making the horrid squealing noise, I looked up and ordered parts from this awesome company Appliance Parts Pros. The repair really was so easy a child could do it, ok so he's 18, but he is still my kid- who truly impressed me. While I was at work the parts came, he used a phillips screwdriver to lift the top off the dryer by taking out the two screws inside the door opening at the top, then removing the two phillips screws holding the front of the dryer on. Be careful here, don't pull out the wires to the light, they are on the lower left. My son found the plastic front support bearing on the front panel easily accessable and he was able to pop it out by hand, and pop in the new one in its place. Once I got home we did a thorough vaccuming since the dryer was kind of apart,(dryer lint and dryer burner = fire hazzard), and the two of us put it back together. Note: when you pull the front off, the drum will fall off the support bearing, be careful to let it down gently and you must lift the front of it again to rest it on the support bearing when putting it back together.
