I found that the Ice Maker in my GE side by side made ice but would not kick out the ice when it had formed, the heating element or the switch that controls it didn't work. I ordered a new ice maker switched it out took less than 3 minutes. The cord was very stiff and just long enough but I got it to connect and in 35-40 minutes I had fresh ICE!! John M Bloomfield , KY March 23, 2014 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator CSX24XJE The icemaker in our Hotpoint refrigerator was leaking water into the ice bin and out the ice dispenser. The water leak was in the icemaker body itself, which is apparently not that unusual in the older, first design icemakers. The only permanent fix for this is replacement of the entire icemaker. The replacement icemaker obtained from AppliancePartsPros installed easily and worked properly from the start, and, of course, there were no more leaks. The new icemaker looks a bit different, but was equipped with all the necessary attachment points and accessories required to replace the older design; no modifications were necessary.
