How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6891612 / WR30X30972 Icemaker

The water leak was in the icemaker body itself, which is apparently not that unusual in the older, first design icemakers. The only permanent fix for this is replacement of the entire icemaker. The replacement icemaker obtained from AppliancePartsPros installed easily and worked properly from the start, and, of course, there were no more leaks. The new icemaker looks a bit different, but was equipped with all the necessary attachment points and accessories required to replace the older design; no modifications were necessary. This is an easy installation; less than ten minutes required.

I ordered a new ice maker from appliancepartspros.com and replaced the old one. The reason it took so long was my fault. I could do it again in less than half to time. 

Replace ice maker assembly! 

First replaced the Main board with no results. Then replaced the icemaker which solved the problem. I then re-installed the original Main Board and the ice continues to be made. I then returned the new Main Board to Appliance Parts Pros since it was not the problem. 

Did some research online, watched repair video on AppliancePartsPros Video.com and fixed it. I replaced the solenoid valve and the ice maker in less than 30 minutes. It really was as simple as swapping out the old for the new. AppliancePartsPros provided all the necessary parts and information for the repair the first time around. Awesome company! 

I ordered a replacement part, which although not exactly the same as the old one, since they don't make it anymore, for my refrigerator, the one you sent me fit fine. It started makin small ice cube but now it's making them normal size. 

1st I tested the regulator with the ice maker side showing no resistance. I ordered a new regulator then replaced that took about 1/2 hour. Still no ice; therefore, ordered and replaced the ice maker that took about 15 minutes. A few hours later had full ice production. The info provided by appliance pros was very useful and both repairs were relatively easy to do plus good time to vacuum dust bunnies off motor that had not been done in a few years.

Ordered the new ice maker, watched the online video and when the part arrived it was a matter of 10 minutes or less and it was fixed! Started making ice in 24 hours. Saved us a lot of money to do it ourselves. Thanks your website was very helpful.
