Jamshid R Manchester , NJ December 16, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator GSS25WSTISS The control surface of the ice/water dipensor assmebly was badly scrathched and worn out making the refrigerator look older than it is Using the model number of the frig, I located the part (Interface Dispenser Asm) on the AppliancePartsPros.com. After reading the Q&A section for hints on how to change the part and looking at a couple of YouTube videos, it seemed that I was up to the task. I placed the order for the part and was pleasantly surprised that it arrived in a couple of days. Armed with a flat blade screwdriver and an old credit card, it took me about 15 minutes to first remove the bezel around the ice dispenser (using the old credit card to prevent scratches to the stainless steel finish when prying the bezel out with the tip of the screwdriver) followed by snapping out the Dispenser Assembly. It would have taken less time to do this had I not been overly cautious not to crack the plastic bezel when prying it off with the screw driver. It took a few seconds to disconnect 3 connectors between the old part and the frig door and reattaching them to the new part. When the bezel was snapped back in, the frog looked like new! Diego C Simsbury , CT December 24, 2021 Condensation in the ice dispenser caused by an oxidized solenoid valve rusted flapper spring and a flapper that was not closing properly I bought a new solenoid valve, flapper and spring (for the cost, the $11 flapper and $4 for the spring made it worth). Also, the water button had broken, as my 2 year old is learning to use the fridge :) :(, I ordered a new control panel and replaced the older one. 1. Removed the plastic cover around the control panel by using a putty scraper and a rounded knife 2. Removed the control panel (Push slightly down, take flap up and pull down from the top) 3. Disengage switches in panel 4. Remove the 4 screws 5. Remove the 3 screws for the solenoid valve and place the new one. Tip, Before placing the new one, put the two screws at the botton in the valve back cover, a lot easier to install this way 6. Remove flapper, change spring, place new flapper. 7. Work all back and put back in place. Like New! Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Craig R Marion , IA July 12, 2025 Buttons worn off on touchpad; mineral deposits on dispenser arm We have really bad water here. Even with the filter in the refrigerator, we get lime deposits on the dispenser components that are hard/impossible to clean. After installing an RO system we decided to replace the dispenser components. The design had changed since our refrigerator came out and the video didn't quite match our parts, but after some trial and error we figured it out. Touchpad installation was straightforward. Less than a half hour to do everything. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
