Ge WR23X37285 Refrigerator Light Switch OEM Part

I ordered a new switch from APP and fixed my fridge. However, the video posted for this repair on this site is not applicable to newer refrigerator models. I have a 2015 GE GTE18IHCRSS and had to drop the control housing (#432 in the diagram) to attach the wire/plug assembly to the switch. Only had to remove the front screw with a 1/4" nut driver and that provided enough of a gap for me to plug in the switch. So the correct method to replace the light switch in a newer model refrigerator is as follows: 1. Unplug the refrigerator's AC power cord from the wall socket 2. Remove the front screw from the control housing with a 1/4" nut driver or small socket wrench. 3. Using your fingers, needle point pliers, or screwdriver blade, remove the wire plug from the switch. Be careful not to put pressure on the housing since the rear screws are still tight. If you want, you can loosen the two rear screws a couple of turns to allow more play in the housing gap. I have skinny fingers so I didn't need to do that. I did keep my free hand on the underside of the housing when doing this repair, which you should do as well. 4. Using a screwdriver, press on the right side of the switch (the retaining tab) from the top side of the housing to remove the switch. During this step you must hold the bottom of the housing as I noted above. 5. Snap in the new switch and connect the wire/plug assembly. 6. Plug in the AC power cord to the fridge and your light should work good as new again. This entire process took me all of three minutes to complete, including coffee break.

I watched the video that was on the part and within 5 minutes we were back in order. Just another note, the shipping was very fast and we were extremely satisfied with our experience.

Part arrived super fast and the video showed me how to change the part ahead of time. The whole thing took less than 3 minutes including turning the electrical breaker off (so I didn't have to pull the fridge away from the wall to unplug it)

I replaced the Ice Door Assembly, but had two problems. 1. The video was only about electronic touch controls, my frig is older and had mechanical controls. Disassembly was more of and event in discovery, but videos did help give me the general idea of how the system worked. 2. The new Assembly would not lay flat against the retainer mechanism which caused it to hang up on the discharge chute and not close leaving a big hole for invasive warm air. First I temporarily shimmed it with small screws, then found some small plastic tile shims that I cut and slipped into the space between the retainer and space above in Assembly's plastic retainer snaps. This snugged it up and I hope a little pressure and gravity will keep them in place.
