The F9 error code is supposed to indicate that the door lock mechanism has failed. My oven would give the F9 code and turn off during normal baking at 400 F after about 30-40 minutes. It turns out that GE must have programmed the error codes incorrectly in my model, because the real problem was that my control board cooling fan was no longer functional, and one of the two thermal switches was shutting off the unit when the control board area got too hot. I ordered wrong part! I have to order again another part and fixed my oven. I consulted the problem at the appliancepartspros site. It gave me the clue which part I need to order.

With the support of Appliance Parts Pros, I ordered 3 parts (plus glass stove top cleaner) that were suspected to be the cause of the problem for a total of $49.59. Easily replaced the Range Oven Sensor, $15.91, at the back of the interior oven & that was it! All oven features work fine & my wife set the oven for the clean cycle earlier today. So far, so good! Replaced the High Limit Switches for the upper and lower ovens on a 20 year old GE Profile Wall Oven. Bottom oven was shutting off after 20 minutes and sometimes the door would lock. Got an F9 error code. Thought maybe limit switch was bad causing lower oven to over heat. Replaced both switches because I was already in there and not much expense. Did not fix the issue. Removed upper & lower door lock mechanisms. Put the one from the lower oven in the upper oven and visa versa. Problem then occurred in the upper oven. Lower oven worked fine. Have ordered a new door lock mechanism for the lower oven. Hoping that will work… if not we will be cooking in the upper oven only!
