Ge WB27X10682 Magnetron OEM Part

First I watched some DIY videos for familiarization and safety. I bought a 28 Ohms resistor and rigged some wires and aligator clips and discharged the accumulated energy from the capacitor. Took out the magnetron and even when it showed good continuity I discarded it due to sings of been overheated. I reinstalled a new magnetron ( part # w27x10597 ) and a Diode HV Ass ( part # wb27x10682 ) for a total of about $ 143.00 including shipping cost. This price against a quoted price of $ 225.00 for technician showing up plus parts. Mi micro is working like new. Thanks God and the people making the instructing videos

I went online to specifically check for resolution to problem. I found out the most common problem was a bad magnetron and diode. I then watched a couple youtube videos on the repair process. I entered model # of microwave at the Appliance Parts Pros website and was able to order exact parts. The APP site had excellent schematics for exact location of parts in microwave. I followed those and fixed microwave! The wife was amazed!

Because the megaton cost more than half the cost of a new microwave, I bought a countertop GE unit that was suppose to go into my built in cabinets. Guess what, GE says this microwave was for countertop only. So I ordered the parts and within an hour, I had my 8 year old unit working again, slid it into the mounting trim and kept the kitchen looking the way it looked after the remodel a few years ago. This was easier than I thought and the you tube videos available prevented errors in the repair. I did find the magnetron a little cheaper but delivery was 5-7 days away. I got the parts in less than 1 day from ordering from UPS. I have used Appliance Pros several times and am extremely pleased at the service. Always check for what I need here before I look elsewhere, but end up getting it here.

After testing the power diode and capacitor that drives the magnetron power source, they came up good on the static tests with the multimeter and battery (used for the diode test). And the static test of the magnetron came fine too, ie: passed the ohm resistance test and short to case resistance tests. Still the oven works only heat water to ~137 degrees max even after running for several minutes. I suspected a break in the winding of the magnetron might be opening after it heats up. Try as I might to get it hot, then disconnect the power wire lead (after discharging the power capacitor first) and check it again with the ohmmeter, it always passed. So I swapped the suspect bad magnetron with the new one and ran the water test again, this time the water was boiling on slightly less than 2 minutes. It’s been running fine ever since! My wife couldn’t believe I fixed it. She was ready to buy a replacement monogram microwave but I was able to successfully wave her off. Thank you Appliance Parts Pros!
