William H Cary , NC August 15, 2015 The cover crusher on my ge ice maker bucket shattered it hasn't been working well since we originally got the refrigerator sometimes we had to scoop ice out rather than get it through the door I looked for a site that sold replacement parts for my make of GE refrigerator. I found AppliancePartsPros, and was very surprised at how organized it was. By entering the model number of my refrigerator, I was shown a set of (approximately) 8 general parts diagrams for my refrigerator. I chose the ice making/dispensing diagram. I matched the part that shattered (from use) to what was on the diagram. What I didn't know was how to install the part. I saw references by other customer comments to video tutorials, but didn't see how to find them. After spending about 30 minutes reading comments from other customers, I discovered that the reference other customers made to tutorials was on a link on some (not all) parts that will help you with general questions about how to take an assembly apart and put it together again (in my case, the ice bucket). After watching a video (not for the part I thought I needed, but for an auger nut) I decided to replace the auger nut as well, as it was only just over $3 to replace. I also saw from other customer comments that they were replacing the Plate Helix Lock along with the Cover Crusher. I didn't see why this part needed replacement, but I decided to order it as well, as it was only around $8 more. I received the parts in 2 days, installed them in 30 minutes (because of the videos that AppliancePartsPros provided). Total cost (including shipping), $28. Cost of replacing the entire ice bin (and that doesn't include the ice maker) would have been $162. I'm happy, my wife is happy, and we both think the ice maker works better now than when we originally purchased the refrigerator. Thank you, AppliancePartsPros! John M Massanutten , VA August 08, 2015 A fin on the plastic auger broke off and needed to be replaced I ordered a replacement auger from AppliancePartsPros.com. Upon receipt of the new auger, I watched the repair video and took the ice crusher apart. I found several other parts that needed to be replaced as well. Once All the parts were received, I again watched the video. The video was not specific enough to show how to reassemble the ice crusher blades and the two types of washers. I found another video on YouTube that walked me through specific details of assembly and everything went back together as it should. My refrigerator is crushing and dispensing ice again. The most difficult part was reassembly of the auger blades and washers.
