How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3425746 / WR01X10315 Auger Nut

I ordered a replacement auger from AppliancePartsPros.com. Upon receipt of the new auger, I watched the repair video and took the ice crusher apart. I found several other parts that needed to be replaced as well. Once All the parts were received, I again watched the video. The video was not specific enough to show how to reassemble the ice crusher blades and the two types of washers. I found another video on YouTube that walked me through specific details of assembly and everything went back together as it should. My refrigerator is crushing and dispensing ice again. The most difficult part was reassembly of the auger blades and washers. 

Easy repair, hard part is getting all the parts needed for older refrigerator. I needed several obscure parts that were damaged along with auger. Saved hundreds of dollars doing it myself. I probably would have bought a new refrigerator. AppliancePartsPros saved the day

Reasonably easy, except auger coarse nut was stripped, too, making the removal of the auger from the housing difficult. Make sure to wait until plastic comes up to room temp to avoid cracking plastic. Saved me at least 300.00 by doing it myself. No service calls, no hourly labor. No random people in my house. 

Remove the old auger replaced with new also new knot. 

I found the circlip in my water glass so I knew I had a problem. A few weeks earlier I had found a washer on the kitchen floor and not knowing where it came from I put it in a safe place. I pulled out the tray and took it apart, seeing that the auger nut was chewed up, I went on line and ordered a new one. I got the part in 2 days. I watched the video and did the repair with no trouble. 

Ordered a new augur (that arrived a day early) went on the web a found the vido on how to replace the augur followed the steps and replaced it in around 30 minutes. Thanks Guys 

After much trial and error I located and corrected the problem. The motor was operational as I could see it turn but I could not see if the auger was turning. I wedged a toothpick to close the door switch and operate the dispenser lever. I determined the auger was not turning. Out of curiosity I removed the bin and turned the motor by hand. Everything seemed okay until I operated the motor and held the auger drive, the forked piece, and that stayed still while the motor turned. In other words the forked piece stopped turning when I held it but not the motor shaft. Solution, tighten the forked auger dispenser. I never saw this solution when I check for ice cube repair problems. When the ice cube dispenser fails to dispense ice cube check the forked piece for tightness even if the motor runs. In regards to how long the project took should read how long did it take to trouble shoot the problem. Repairs took seconds once problem was found. 

My icemaker was making ice just fine but wasn’t dispensing any. I thought maybe the bin had gotten clogged but when I emptied it, I found a piece of the auger had broken off and the ice crusher cover was cracked in several places. I Googled the issue and on AppliancePartsPros.com website. I entered the model number of my refrigerator and, voila, there appeared a list of all of the parts that I might need along with the step by step videos showing exactly how to replace them. I ordered the auger, ice crusher cover and a new auger nut on Saturday and they were at my door Tuesday afternoon. The hardest part of the whole repair was removing and reinstalling the e-clip that keeps the auger nut in place. I’m a 71-year-old single woman and I fixed my icemaker myself in less than half an hour, thanks to AppliancePartsPros.com 

I followed the Youtube video to the letter and it was so helpful. I didn't have one problem with it because the video was so informative. The biggest thing to watch for though is to make sure the ice crusher goes back exactly as it was. Take lots of pictures or be very careful when you take it apart, memorizing each blade and washer that goes between the blades.
