Kenneth S Lindenhurst , IL March 08, 2017 Loud whirring noise on spin cycle Replaced transmission and support assembly. Hub nut corrode on support, spanner wrench would not loosen. Had to use 1 11/16 deep socket and impact wrench to remove, basket would not com off support even after cleaning out and soaking with penetrant and using automotive air hammer to push out. I had to cut support plate in half with die grinder, cut bearing from shaft and punch out agitator shaft then use die grinder with carbide burr to cut basket shaft in two before basket would come off shaft. I am an experienced automotive technician with 40+ years and this job is not for the average DYIer if the nut and basket look corroded after removing the agitator Read More... 25 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Screwdrivers, Socket Set, Wrench Set

Scott H Kekaha , HI June 20, 2023 Appliance: General Electric Home Laundry Combo GTUP240GM4WW Noisy and leaking water under tub. Initially started on spin cycle then all the time. Tub seal was bad and transmission bearing bad I purchased the parts I thought I needed and found out I did not need to buy the washer, or seal. and not as the transmission came with these parts. I also purchased the spanner wrench TB123A I also needed the Agitator mounting bolt (Agitador WH01X10619 / AP5306325) as my rubber seal was destroyed when it was removed so I had to wait for it to come in to complete the job. As for the job, it did go fairly easy for me, but I am also a certified auto mechanic and a trained Jet engine mechanic. The problem I had was removing the basket assembly from the outer tub. After three days of penetrating fluid and a lot of beating on the transmission, it finally came loose. After cleaning all the old parts, the assembly went together easily. Make sure you get the spanner wrench and a large hammer to remove the nut, if you do not you will wish you did. Overall, this took me about 5 days due to the stuck tub and waiting for parts and cleaning old parts. I am sure it saved a lot of $$ compared to hiring someone to do the task. The washer is working great now............ Read More... 3 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
