Description

This overload/PTCR combination is the refrigerator compressor's start device. It briefly powers the start winding and protects against overheating, helping the compressor start reliably and cycle safely so your refrigerator can maintain proper temperatures.

• Provides momentary start assistance via a PTCR solid-state relay, then opens automatically
• Protects the compressor by opening the circuit if overheating or excessive current is detected
• Symptoms of a faulty device may include no cooling, compressor clicking or humming without starting, or starting then shutting off after a few seconds
• Visible heat damage or discoloration on the device or compressor terminals can indicate failure

What's included: One overload/PTCR start device assembly. Install notes:

• Disconnect power before servicing; access the compressor compartment from the rear
• Note/photograph wiring and terminal orientation; transfer wires and any run-capacitor lead to the same positions on the new device
