David S Lancaster , PA July 29, 2015 Appliance: General Electric Trash Compactor GCG1500L0BB I have a ge trash compactor that is 1 1/2 years old the left screw power nut stripped I was GREATLY surprised. I ordered 2 of the parts, to do both sides while I had it apart. The NEXT DAY the parts were at my door. I pulled the unit, and took out what seemed like a thousand screws to get the ram out. The parts just clip in. I had to straighten the ram and reassemble the unit. From removal of unit to turning it back on, total time---less than 2 hours. I have a bad back and only one good hand. If I was in the good shape I was 8 years ago, this would have taken about 1 to 1 1/2 hours max. 1/4" nut driver, #2 phillips screwdriver and an allen wrench to turn the motor from the top. Gary M Loganville , GA August 01, 2014 Appliance: General Electric Trash Compactor ZCGS150LSS-00 Screw threads in nylon power assy worn out trash not compacting I replaced both Nut Power Assemblies. This required taking off the top (6 screws), removing drawer (just tip and lift), removing the front (8 screws), front bottom (2 screws), limit switch (3 screws). Then lift the RAM out, pop the two retaining clips on each assembly to pull the pins and change the assembly. It may be necessary to let the motor run a little to get the ram all the way to the top where it can be pulled out if both assemblies are not stripped completely. After replacing the assemblies place it back in and get the motor to run to start the ram on the threads, make sure to keep the ram level so it starts equally on both sides.
