Robert L Cary , NC May 24, 2019 Appliance: General Electric Electric Dryer DPVH890EJ0MG Drum would not rotate intermittently. The Dryer is 10 years old GE Front Load DPVH890JEMG. The drum would intermittently not rotate at the beginning of a cycle and occasionally would rotate but then start and stop throughout the cycle. I did not check error codes, but the windings on the motor were black. So it seemed reasonable that the motor was overheating and sending a signal to the control board to stop. There is one screw under the knob and 9 screws on the front to get inside. I decided to replace the bearings, capacitor, belt and slides while I was in there because they were 10 years old and relatively cheap. Everything snapped in pretty easily and now it works. I was really hoping that it wasn't the control board and so far it seems that it wasn't. Liliana S Carrollton , TX August 08, 2026 Appliance: General Electric Gas Dryer GTD42GASJ2WW Loud squeaking Troubleshot and replaced the front assembly since the plastic tabs were worn down but it didn't solve the squeak. Bought the pulley and belt and waited a few days for them to deliver. Existing pulley had been worn down at the back of it somehow and I noticed a lot of black grime around it and under it. I watched the videos to replace both parts and clean the entire innards before putting it back together. So much dist accumulates form there. The replacement took about an hour.glad they have me the size for the wrench needed because I was struggling to find the right size. Once on and put back together it was the smoothest sound of it working again. Praise the Lord! Though we were liking drying the clothes outside ??. Read More... Joel C Newnan , GA July 27, 2026 My ge dryer was squeaking I ordered a rear bushing kit, a new belt, and a new front slide and support assembly. I watched videos on Youtube, but quickly just reverted to my own intuition. It took me 2-3 hours to finish because I spent a lot of time labeling wires to prevent any issue with reinstallation, glueing tabs back on the control panel that the Youtube guy said to just leave hanging, and cleaning (and cleaning) lint out of everything. Plus, it was tight quarters. If I had to do it again, it would take about an hour. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers, Screwdrivers
