Charles L Toms River , NJ July 20, 2022 Appliance: Model GE PROFILE MICROWAVE MODEL JVM1790SK Erratic behavior of control board. This, by the way, is the 2nd replacement of the Control Board for the "Top of the Line" and very expensive GE Profile Microwave Model JVM1790SK. The 1st "Replacement" Control Board was purchased about 5 years ago - directly from GE Parts. The Unit has always had minimal use in a 2-person, adult, household. Aside from a lot of research on this Microwave, including reading the: GE Microwave JVM1790SK Service Manual, I also "chatted' with the "Expert" at AppliancePartsPros.com and explained that: The top two rows of the Control Panel were rapidly "flickering on and off", and if I began pressing and turning the center Dial Button and or pressing the various option buttons, I "might" be able to get the prompt to "Set the Clock" - and (after setting) the microwave would then function "NORMALLY" for several hours - or maybe 1 day before the same problem would reoccur. Eventually, after about a week into this problem, I would set the time - and then several hours later, I would notice that the clock had reset the time - on its own - by many hours and from AM to PM or vice-versa - but it continued to function NORMALLY. I would also "Unplug" the microwave - wait 5-10 minutes and then plug the unit back in. The Microwave is and has always been on its own dedicated line with a 20 amp Circuit Breaker that was not and had not been tripped. The problem continued for at least 10 days and, eventually, no matter what I did - I could not get the prompt to Set the Time - and the unit would not power on - with the internal light now not working when the door was opened. It was 100% DEAD. So I "took a chance" with no conclusive diagnosis of the problem and ordered the Control Board. The Microwave has now been working normally for 5 straight days. Camille S Haymarket , VA November 07, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Free Standing Microwave JVM1790SK01 Contol knob "push in button" wasn't working We have a GE Microwave Convection Oven (Model: JVM1790SK01) The control knob would only worked if you push the button in at the 7 o'clock position. Needless to say, very annoying. I researched how to replace the mother board behind the control panel. I found a YouTube video showing how simple it was. Remove one screw and then just slide the whole panel up to remove. Then all you do is remove the wire harnesses from the board. Unscrew the board from the plastic panel and replace. Very easy! Brad B Saint Petersburg , FL February 10, 2017 Main dial control no longer worked I first removed the motherboard from the oven in an attempt to clean the dial control switch. That proved ineffective so I ordered a new one. The part arrived quickly and was an exact factory fit. The complete repair took less than 20 minutes and the oven works like new. I also replaced the stirrer fan cover as the original had deteriorated quite a bit. Fast and easy repair, and saved quite a bit of coin.
