First I’d like to thank AppliancePartsPro.coms for the advice on how to remove the top of my GE washing machine. It is supper easy, two screws to remove the plate that covers the back of the control panel, two screws that hold the top down, then just push the top forward and it comes off. The fix was to replace the worn-out suspension rods. Pretty standard, once the top is removed. I made one error, I did not completely remove all the wires to the control panel, and set the top on edge. Big mistake, all the soap came out of the auto dispenser and made a huge mess.
