Ge WH16X10186 Transmission And Support Assembly (Washer) OEM Part

This is a stacked unit so it comes apart a little different. you DO NOT have to remove the dryer unit to remove the tub assembly.the top front cabinet brace is held on with 6 screws.remove this along with the suspension rods the tub assembly comes straight out the front of the machine. Do yourself a favor and take the whole assembly out of the machine before you disassemble the inner tub. I removed the drain pump before i took the tub out as a precaution. The worst part about this job was the inner tub was frozen to the transmission shaft. I tried everything, soaked it in penetrating oil for days, beat on it, heat from a torch careful not to melt anything, a jack between the trans shaft and a 2 by 4 wedged under the tub rim and then broke the 2 but not the tub. The only way to get this apart was to cut the center hub off the shaft. I used a 4 in angle grinder & cutoff wheel to make 4 cuts close to the center hub hammer n chisel its out, 2 more cuts on what's left and hammer n chisel it was off. This was glued on. The downside to this is you have to buy a whole new inner basket assembly. The hub is not sold by it self. $200-400.got 1 for $230.went back together easy n works great now. I hope this helps. I replaced the support assembly per the suggestion of the technician working at the time. If it weren't for the technician I might not have ordered the correct part.

I purchased the parts I thought I needed and found out I did not need to buy the washer, or seal. and not as the transmission came with these parts. I also purchased the spanner wrench TB123A I also needed the Agitator mounting bolt (Agitador WH01X10619 / AP5306325) as my rubber seal was destroyed when it was removed so I had to wait for it to come in to complete the job. As for the job, it did go fairly easy for me, but I am also a certified auto mechanic and a trained Jet engine mechanic. The problem I had was removing the basket assembly from the outer tub. After three days of penetrating fluid and a lot of beating on the transmission, it finally came loose. After cleaning all the old parts, the assembly went together easily. Make sure you get the spanner wrench and a large hammer to remove the nut, if you do not you will wish you did. Overall, this took me about 5 days due to the stuck tub and waiting for parts and cleaning old parts. I am sure it saved a lot of $$ compared to hiring someone to do the task. The washer is working great now............
